In Vinyasa yoga classes, students coordinate movement with breath to flow from one pose to the next. Vinyasa yoga offers an alternative way to exercise and burns calories to help you lose weight. You move from pose to pose with the breath -- and, in some vigorous classes, you can burn upward of 400 calories. Vinyasa is also the term used to describe a specific sequence of poses (Chaturanga to Upward-Facing Dog to Downward-Facing Dog) commonly used throughout a vinyasa class.
